Unfortunately, negative campaigning is just another part of politics.  There are currently 27 days left until Election Day and the baseless attacks by my opponent and his friends are sure to continue as we take the campaign into November. I have defended my record over and over and you can see the truth at www.PatientsForTruth.com .  Now I am am ready to return to discussing the issues that matter most to North Alabama.

In addition to my opponent's political smears, two other shadowy outside groups have joined Wayne Parker's campaign of distortion.  Freedom's Watch and the Center for Individual Freedom are spending thousands of dollars attacking me and trying to distract voters from pressing issues like affordable health care, keeping and growing our federal jobs, and getting our economy back on track.  Freedom's Watch has even been condemned by the Christian Coalition of Alabama.  The Christian Coalition released a statement in September condemning Freedom's Watch and its founder Sheldon Adelson, a Las Vegas casino baron, asking them to take their dirty politics out of our state. You can read more about Adelson's group at www.therealfreedomswatch.com.

It has now been 86 days since my opponent has had anything to say about his record, qualifications, or ideas for north Alabama.  Almost three months have passed in this campaign and all we have heard from Wayne Parker have been partisan attacks that have nothing to do with fixing the problems that face our country.  The market has lost almost 2000 points since he began his negative campaign, many have seen their retirement accounts cut in half and our families are falling further and further behind, yet all he seems to be worried about is attacking me personally.  He tried it in 1994 and 1996 against Bud Cramer and it didn't work for him then and it won't work this time either.

I'm ready to work across the aisle for common sense solutions to the real problems that face our country. That means fixing our economy, making health care more affordable and bringing an end to the partisan bickering in Washington.
