PSC's Parker says she won't seek5th District post

The latest contender to represent North Alabama in Congress said Friday he wants to help the area get money it needs to keep up with growth.

State Sen. Parker Griffith, D-Huntsville, announced his candidacy for the 5th Congressional District of Alabama being vacated by U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Huntsville.

'Start of a historic system for the state of Alabama'

Huntsville Hospital and Crestwood Medical Center have joined a new trauma care system that state officials hope will become a national model for saving lives.

The Alabama Department of Public Health launched the system in North Alabama on Feb. 25 with the goal of getting critically injured people to the most appropriate hospital quickly. It will be expanded to other parts of the state in the coming months, the agency's director, Dr. Don Williamson, said during a news conference Friday at Huntsville Hospital.

Don’t Tax Federal Tax Rebate Checks

being levied on the federal tax rebates that Alabamians are
anticipating in May. The legislation's sponsor, state Senator
Parker Griffith, says he wants to make sure every dime of the rebate goes into the pockets of Alabama families.
