I saw that awful commercial from Wayne Parker saying how terrible Parker Griffith was, and it's just not true.  My mother, two sisters and I went in to Dr. Griffith's office to get mammograms, and I found out I had Stage 1 cancer.  I had just got a job at North Alabama Rehab in physical therapy and I had to put it off because of my disease.  I went into the office and had a procedure that went beautifully.  I had new Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and they tried to refuse coverage by calling my cancer a preexisting condition, but Dr. Griffith wrote a letter to them and convinced them to pay for it.  God was on my side that day, I'm sure of it.

During my treatment, I would go every day.  He knew that I didn't make a lot of money and my husband was a disabled veteran and Dr. Griffith never said a word when I couldn't make payments.  No one at his office ever complained about my ability to pay.  After he retired, I still owed him $2000, and the last bill I received from him was a letter marked "paid in full".  It's completely untrue to say this man didn't take care of his patients.

When I was 11, my Brother Phillip Black died of Leukemia on June 2nd, 1979.  Parker Griffith was the man who performed the Radiation treatments on my brother.  After my mother's insurance had topped out, she told Dr. Griffith that she had no money to pay for his services at the time but could make payments.  Parker Griffith told my mother that money was the least of his worries, his main concern was to get my brother cured.  Though Phillip fought bravely for more than 2 years, he lost the battle one month past his 18th birthday.  A few weeks later my mom, along with another one of my brothers, went to Parker Griffith's office to discuss a payment plan.  The amount due for the services performed by Dr. Griffith was more than $4,000.  With my brother and mother in his office, Parker wrote on the invoice, "Paid in Full".  I was only 11 at the time.  Today I am forty and I cannot express enough my support for Parker Griffith.  I am outraged at Wayne Parker's attack on a man of Dr. Griffith's character.

Parker Griffith treated my father for a pancoas tumor, which is rare in men and has a 6-12 months life expectancy. My dad lived for seven years. After severe side effects from treatments and clinical trials, Most Doctors did not know how to treat him because they were too focused on his other problems.  My dad struggled with addiction all his life, so he was shown no compassion by the medical field.  EXCEPT by Dr Griffith.  He made my  dad feel like he deserved to live. My family will never forget the  way he treated my dad. I never had the chance to thank Dr. Griffith.  My dad passed away.  If he were here, I know he would want me to tell his story.  So thank you for treating everyone the same.  I think you are a caring and compationate man.

My father was a patient of Dr. Griffith's in 1986.  He suffered from lung cancer, which was advanced by the time his surgeon sent him to Dr. Griffith.  Griffith treated him and extended his time with us for a while.  My father and family think the world of Dr. Griffith.  My father lost his battle in February 1986 but we felt good knowing he was treated by a doctor that he really liked, respected and admired.  He never once questioned or complained about his treatment.  Thank you Dr. Griffith for being there for him and his family.  I feel really bad that Wayne Parker is trying to destroy his reputation and truly hope that people can see through these false accusations.  Keep up the good work and my family and I will be voting for you in November.

When I first discovered my cancer, I didn't know what it was, but I had it checked out. I had surgery and the required tests. They thought I had a tumor somewhere else in my body, so they sent me to Indiana, but they couldn't find anything, so they sent me back to Alabama to start treatment. My medical doctors sent me to Parker Griffith, so I met with him and we discussed treatment. They put me in the hospital, and they started treatments on me that lasted from January 1979 to January of 1980. During that time I got to know Parker Griffith pretty well. As long as I went to him, I knew he was a good man. He knew what he was doing and I've been close with him for the last 30 years. I'm glad he's campaigning for Congress.

Dr. Griffith was my mother's and aunt's doctor, and I never heard any complaints from anyone.  He comforted and cared for my mother for a year until she passed away.  When we went to his office for the first time, he took the afternoon to talk to us, gather all the information he needed, and told us the path he was going to plan out for us.  I always have thought a lot of Dr. Griffith because he was as kind and wonderful as he could be and we appreciate everything he did for my mother.

In 1978, I was diagnosed with breast cancer that spread to my lymph and vascular system. At that time, I met Dr. Griffith and he prescribed a program of treatments for me. I had chemotherapy for 18 months and radiation for six weeks and I believe it was he and God that saved my life. He was my Oncologist for 14 years before he retired and he was always wonderful. He was compassionate and caring. I was prone to infection and would have to call him at midnight or 2:00am to get admitted with a fever. He would get out of bed and come to the hospital to come and see me, which was very unexpected. Over the years, we became good friends and he was always there when I needed him. That was 30 years ago and I have kept in touch with him and still consider him my friend.

Dr. Griffith is a pioneer in medicine and I think he would represent us well in Congress. I think the people that take the time to check into his background and get to know him will understand that.

Parker Griffith was a wonderful doctor and I get so mad every time I see that darn ad, I want to kick the television.  he was wonderful to my mother and no one believes it when Wayne Parker says what he says.  He took care of my mother and she loved him for it.  We thought the world of him and he was the most wonderful doctor there was because he worked hard to make sure my mother didn't suffer.

I don't believe these commercials against him because Parker Griffith was a dedicated doctor.  He's got my vote and everyone's vote in my family.

In 1986, I had stage 3 breast cancer-surgery followed by six months chemotherapy.  Dr. Parker Griffith was my radiologist-oncologist.  At this critical time in my life I was impressed by his honesty and straightforwardness.  I found him to be most competent and caring and explaining in details I could understand.  23 years later I am still thankful for his ability as a doctor and for his caring help.

I think he would make a great U.S. Congressman.

My name is Bill Price, Past President of the Huntsville Board of
Realtors. I am somewhat dismayed about the accusations, innuendos and
attempts at character assassination attempts that the Wayne Parker
campaign is putting forth as the truth. I truly believe the general
public can see through this scam.

In memory of Andy McMullins

I have known Dr. Griffith for about 20 years.  He was my brother's and husband's doctor, but he was more than a doctor -- he was a friend.  He was someone to go to when we were down and out, just like one of the family.

I got tired of the negative campaigning by Wayne Parker, so I decided to call you today.  I was a patient of Dr. Griffith's in 1986 and I can safely say that what Mr. Parker is saying is a bold-faced lie.  Dr. Griffith treated me with dignity and respect.  I had radiation treatment every day, monday through friday.  Every time I went to see Dr. Griffith, there was a roomful of patients and I never heard anyone say anything bad about him.  He must've been doing something right because I'm still here after twenty years of being diagnosed with this horrible disease.  My only regret of living in Somerville is that I cannot cast a vote for Parker Griffith on November 4th.

My mother Louise Jones was a patient of Dr. Griffith in the 1980s. She had a growth on her neck and she went to him for two years. She was worried about having to go to the doctor for the rest of her life, but Dr. Griffith cured her in two years and led a long life after Dr. Griffith's treatment.

I had to drive my mother to the doctor's office. She was scared at first, but Dr. Griffith put her at ease and I know for a fact that he treated her well and with respect. She was retired from a state job and had social security, and was still never harassed for a payment.

Dr. Griffith made my mother's life better, made my life better, and it makes me upset to see Wayne Parker's negative commercial.

When I was diagnosed with cancer, my mother had died the year before of cancer, and my two sisters had breast cancer. I heard Dr. Griffith was a good doctor. He didn't even have ads in the newspaper, his reputation was that good. He told me that I had breast cancer and that he would certainly do the operation. My insurance company wouldn't pay for it. I didn't have my insurance for too long, and they wouldn't pay for it. Dr. Griffith got them to pay for it and they cured me. I didn't have chemo, I had radiation because it didn't make me sick. Dr. Griffith saved my life. I was going to lose my farm, my insurance and my entire life. I needed support and Dr. Griffith gave me support. Every day, he would tell me I was going to make it, and I did make it. I had three new granddaughters, and one of them was born right before my son died. I had something to live for, and Dr. Griffith helped me make that happen. He helped me stay alive to raise my granddaughters. I was strong because of him because he told me I could.

This letter is to let Huntsville and the Times readers know the Parker Griffith my son and I know.  Our family lived in Huntsville from April 1965 until November 2003.  We now reside in Iowa.  In March 1978, my 15 year old daughter, Stephanie Wilhelm, was diagnosed with cancer and sent to Birmingham for treatment by a GYN Oncologist.  On March 2, 1980, then 18, Stephanie had a seizure and could no longer travel to Birmingham.  That doctor called Parker Griffith and asked him to care for Stephanie, and he did.  Dr. Griffith quickly won Stephanie's trust and mine.  We could not have asked for better treatment or more thoughtful interaction.
